9pm – Brightshine with Pamela Parker and the Fantastic Machine
Thursday, March 19 @ 9:00 pm - 1:30 amFree
Seamlessly combining Rock, Funk, Latin and Jazz influences, Brightshine has created an expansive and expressive sound that is uniquely their own. Brightshine features Pete Sawyer’s evocative lyrics and stylistically diverse compositions as well as the band’s fluidly expressive improvisations. Their debut album Shadows In The Sky was recorded live with minimal overdubs and is a document of the musical prowess and tone poetry of the musicians as well as the telepathic interaction the band built with one another during the arrangement and recording process. Brightshine integrates influences as diverse as Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Fela Kuti, The Grateful Dead and Snarky Puppy, while cultivating a sound that is thoroughly original. The band features Celso Alberti (Steve Winwood, Airto), Jordan Feinstein (Phil Lesh, Stu Allen), Murph Murphy (Poor Man’s Whiskey, Stu Allen), Pete Sawyer (Seconds On End, The Left Hand Monkey Wrench Gang) and Maria Caycedo (Verismo Opera Company). Pamela Parker blends sultry soulful vocals with powerful rock anthems. Her band has built a sound on their dynamic stage presence and commanding vocals that can drive you, make you dance, and take you on a journey. The new album, The Fantastic Machine, creates a fresh rock n’roll landscape with a wide range of surprising touchstones like Aretha Franklin, Thin Lizzy, Funkadelic and Heart.
